Unlike directors or actors, the Cinematographer, or Director of Photography, rarely receives the kind of attention they deserve. After all, they do have the key technical role in the process of revealing a story through images. We pay tribute to four of this country's finest Directors of Photography: Roger Deakins (The Hudsucker Proxy), Geoffrey Unsworth (2001: A Space Odyssey), Chris Menges (The Killing Fields)and Jack Cardiff (The African Queen).

Legendary cinematographer and director, Jack Cardiff, will feature in a live interview, on-stage, at Theatre By The Lake in a special late addition to the Festival programme. Jack's work is no stranger to Keswick (The Red Shoes and A Matter of Life and Death both having screened in the last two years) and we are proud to invite him to discuss our featured Cardiff film, The African Queen, along with the rest of his career which spans ten decades! Jack will be interviewed by Tim Young, Film Studies Lecturer, at the Theatre on Sunday 17th February at 4.00pm, ENTRY IS FREE.

Featuring:

The African Queen (Jack Cardiff)

The Hudsucker Proxy (Roger Deakins)

2001: A Space Odyssey (Geoffrey Unsworth)

The Killing Fields (Chris Menges)
