Brilliant filmmaking by the young Austrian
director, and a return to real acting by the star of Chocolat.
Michael Haneke contrives to tell a love story in the format
of 'inter-related lives' - his snapshot technique gives a taut
thriller feel to the proceedings - and he even weaves in the
asylum-seeker theme (for the third time in this season's films).
You'll not fall asleep in front of this one.
Reviews
"Binoche proves that she is one of the finest European
actresses of her generation but she's more than matched by
a faultless supporting cast, of which Lu Yenke is a revelation.
European cinema at its very best. " David
