Western
Australia, 1931. Ordered by the Chief Protector of Aborigines
(Branagh) to be taken from their homes and relocated in
a special unit for half-caste children, sisters Daisy and
Molly and their cousin Grace seize their first opportunity
to escape. In this amazing episode from one of the darkest
chapters of Australian history, they set out to trek 2000
km, guided by the rabbit-proof fence that bisects the outback,
pursued by an Aboriginal tracker (played by Gulpilil - Nic
Roeg's boy star in Walkabout).
Wonderful acting, dazzling cinematography and a haunting
score by Peter Gabriel.
