Effi O Blaena
Synopsis
Welcome to Blaenau Ffestiniog, one of the most deprived towns in Wales. Meet Effi; in this tough town she is very tough, surviving on benefits, drinking, clubbing and dancing; she may not have much and has little hope of getting more, but she is out to get what she can. "On one particular night out on the town, that means grabbing the attention of a man she has never seen there before; but actions have consequences and, for someone with as little social power as Effi, those consequences can easily spiral out of control" - Jennie Kermode, Eye for Film.
Directed by Marc Evans, "one of Britain's most versatile directors, this is really, really powerful" - Mark Kermode, Kermode and Mayo's Take - and Leisa Gwenllian is tremendous as Effi.
Come along and feel the power.
