Karol's French wife divorces him after 6 months of unconsummated marriage. Having lost everything he is reduced to busking on the Paris Metro, but when he returns to the new capitalist Poland his luck changes, and then he tries to 'get even'. Keswick Film Club won the Best New Film Society at the British Federation Of Film Societies awards in 2000.
